direction 的用法與語法

1. 表示“方向”或“方面”，是可數名詞，注意它與介詞的搭配。

(1) 與介詞in搭配，表示“朝……方向”“在……方面”。如：

She went off in the opposite direction. 她往相反的方向走了。

Continue in this direction until you see a sign. 一直朝著這個方向走就看見指示牌了。

I have already made a big start in this direction. 我已在這方面有了良好的開端。

另外，注意in the direction of（朝……的方向，相當于towards）和in sb’s direction（朝某人的方向，相當于towards sb）這兩個搭配。如：

He is walking in the direction of the police station. 他正朝警察局的方向走去。

He glanced in her direction and their eyes met. 他朝她這個方向一看，倆人的眼睛相遇了。

(2) 與介詞from搭配，表示“從……方向”“從……方面”。如：

No further sound came from that direction. 從那個方向沒傳來更多聲音。

Whichever direction he came from he still arrived at the same point. 不管他是從哪個方向來的，他依然到達了相同的地點。

2. 表示“指導”或“指揮”，是不可數名詞。表示“在……的指導下”，與介詞 under 連用。如：

We work under his direction. 我們在他的指導下工作。

The singing group is under the direction of Mr Lee. 歌唱團由李先生指揮。

3. 表示“指示”“指引”“用法說明”等，通常要用復數形式。如：

He gave us directions to the railway station. 他告訴我們去車站怎么走。

Follow the directions on the medicine bottle. 請按藥瓶上的服用說明服藥。

有時表示郵件上的“姓名地址”，此時也要用復數形式。如：

The parcel was returned to the sender because the directions were incorrect. 包裹因姓名地址有誤而被退給了寄件人。
