thank的若干用法習慣

1. 用作動詞，表示“感謝”，是及物動詞，注意必須以“人”而不能是“事”。如：

謝謝你的好意。

正：Thank you for your kindness.

誤：Thank your kindness.

另外，其后通常不接從句。如：

謝謝你告訴我這個消息。

正：Thank you for telling me the news.

誤：Thank you that you’ve told me the news.

2. 用作動詞時，意是及物的，所以其后必須有賓語，所以回答時不能只說Thank，要說Thank you，或用Thanks。

3. 用作名詞時，通常用復數形式；漢語中說“多謝”，英語可說成Thanks. / Many thanks. / Thanks a lot. / Thanks very much. 等。注意，根據英語習慣，我們可以說Thanks a lot，卻不能說：Thank you a lot.

4. 在通常情況下，表示感謝都可用 Thank you, 但有時要謝絕邀請或謝絕提供，或感謝對方幫忙未成功的好意等，則通常是在 Thank you 的后面加上 all the same, just the same, anyway 等。如：

A：Do you want a lift? 要搭車嗎?

B：No, but thanks just the same. 不搭，謝謝。

5. 用于I will thank you to do sth（請你，我求你），用于加強請求或命令的語氣，原本是為了使語氣更客氣，但現在常帶有氣憤或反感之意味。如：

I will thank you to shut the door. 勞駕把門關上。

I will thank you to mind your own business. 請你少管閑事。

6. 口語中說Thank you [Thanks] for nothing，其意為“那就算了”“那就不用謝了”，用于遭拒絕后給自己下臺階。如：、

A：I’m afraid you can’t take it, Jim. 對不起，吉姆，你不能拿走它。

B：Well, thank you for nothing. 哦，那我就不用謝了。

有時表示“你盡幫倒忙”“你別瞎幫忙了”“這不用你操心了”，用于客氣地責備別人給自己幫倒忙，有時有諷刺意味。如：

You’ve broken my pen—thanks for nothing, I could have done that for myself. 你把我的筆給弄壞了——你得了吧，就那我自己也會弄。
