experiment用作動詞和名詞時的搭配問題

1. 用作名詞，表示“實驗”“試驗”等，通常為可數(shù)名詞。如：

I look upon it as an experiment. 我把它看作是一個試驗。

They began a series of experiments. 他們開始了一系列試驗。

但在某些搭配（如by experiment）為不可數(shù)名詞。如：

Scientists test out theories by experiment. 科學家用實驗檢驗理論。

We hope to find the answer to this problem by experiment. 我們希望通過試驗來找出這個問題的答案。

要表示“做實驗”，通常用動詞 do, make, carry out, perform 等。如：

They are doing [making] a physical experiment. 他們在做物理實驗。

其后接用介詞時情況比較復雜：一般說來，表示“對……做實驗”，其后接介詞on；表示“做……方面的實驗”，其后接介詞in；表示“用……做實驗”，其后接介詞with。如：

He is doing an experiment in chemistry. 他在做化學實驗。

He hopes to do experiments with new methods. 他希望用新方法做實驗。

They performed an experiment on the monkey to test the new drug. 他們用猴子做實驗來測試這種新藥。

2. 用作動詞時，只用作不及物動詞。其后接用介詞與用作名詞時的情況相似，即表示“對……做實驗”，其后接介詞on；表示“做……方面的實驗”，其后接介詞in；表示“用……做實驗”，其后接介詞with。如：

We experiments on [upon] animals. 我們用動物做實驗。

I am experimenting with a new perfume. 我正在試驗一種新香水。

The students are experimenting in chemistry. 學生們正在做化學實驗。
