fear的六條有用搭配

1. 用作動(dòng)詞，注意以下搭配：

搭配1：表示害怕做某事，其后可接不定式或動(dòng)名詞，但以用不定式為普通。如：

Don’t fear to speak before the public. 不要怕當(dāng)眾講話。

He fears to tell [telling] her what happened. 他怕告訴她所發(fā)生的事。

搭配2：表示擔(dān)心或恐怕會(huì)發(fā)生什么情況，其后通常接 that 從句。如：

I fear that he will refuse us. 我擔(dān)心他會(huì)拒絕我們。

I fear I cannot know the answer to that. 我恐怕回答不了那個(gè)問(wèn)題。

在答語(yǔ)中 that 從句可用 so, not 代之。如：

A：Will he come? 他會(huì)來(lái)嗎?

B：I fear so. /I fear not. 我想會(huì)來(lái)吧。/我想不會(huì)來(lái)吧。

后接否定的賓語(yǔ)從句時(shí)，通常不轉(zhuǎn)移到主句。如：

I fear it won’t do much good. 我擔(dān)心這不會(huì)有多大好處。

搭配3：習(xí)慣上不接不定式的復(fù)合結(jié)構(gòu)作賓語(yǔ)。如：

我擔(dān)心他會(huì)失敗。

誤：I fear him to fail.

正：I fear that he will fail.

搭配4：比較 fear sb 與 fear for sb：前者意為害怕某人，后者意為為某人擔(dān)心。如：

He fears his wife. 他怕他老婆。

He fears for his wife. 他為他老婆擔(dān)心。

2. 用作名詞，注意以下搭配

搭配5：for fear of 意為“由于怕……”“以防……”。如：

Shut the window for fear of catching a cold. 關(guān)閉窗戶以免感冒。

比較同義句：

我不敢到那里去，因?yàn)榕卤凰�看�?jiàn)（他會(huì)看見(jiàn)我）。

正：I dare not go there for fear of him seeing me.

正：I dare not go there for fear that he will see me.(www.hz123456.com)

搭配6：in fear of 意為“害怕”“擔(dān)心”。如：

We’re in fear of more snow. 我們擔(dān)心會(huì)再下雪。

The thief passed the day in fear of discovery. 這個(gè)小偷整天提心掉膽擔(dān)心會(huì)被發(fā)現(xiàn)。
