make 用作連系動(dòng)詞的用法

make 用作連系動(dòng)詞，主要用法如下：

1. 表示“成為；變?yōu)椋贿m合；勝任”等，主要指因?yàn)橛心潮匦璧奶攸c(diǎn)而成為或適合于……，其后只能接名詞作表語(yǔ)，不接形容詞。如：

I’m sure you’ll make a good soldier. 我相信你會(huì)成為一名好軍人。

The hall will make a good theatre. 這禮堂適合演戲。

This coat will make a good present for my mother. 這件外套是給我母親的一件好禮物。

She would have made an excellent teacher. 她本可以成為杰出的教師。

That will make a good ending to the book. 那就成了這本書很好的結(jié)尾。

2. 表示“形成，組成”，主要指人或事物按某種方式形成某種圖形或樣式，其后也只能接名詞作表語(yǔ)，不接形容詞。如：

Let’s make a circle. 我們來(lái)圍成一個(gè)圈。

A group of people made a circle around the Pentagon. 一群人在五角大樓四周圍成一圈。

Those seven bright stars make the shape of a saucepan. 那七顆明亮的星星構(gòu)成一個(gè)長(zhǎng)柄鍋的形狀。

3. 表示“等于；合計(jì)為”， 其后也只能接名詞作表語(yǔ)，不接形容詞。如：

Two and two make four. 2加2得4。

12 and 12 make 24. 12加12等于24。

A hundred pence make one pound. 100便士為1鎊。

There are nine people coming, plus me, which makes ten. 九個(gè)人要來(lái)，加上我總共十個(gè)人。

Today’s earthquake makes five since the beginning of the year. 今天的地震是今年以來(lái)的第五次。

有時(shí)還可在賓語(yǔ)后再接名詞。如：

I’ve got 29 different teapots in my collection - if I buy this one that’ll make it 30. 我已經(jīng)收集了29個(gè)各式各樣的茶壺——如果買下這個(gè)，就有30個(gè)了。
