deserve后接不定式和動名詞的用法區別 deserve的意思是“值得”“應該”,它的后面本來是要用不定式的。如: She deserved to win because she was the best. 她有資格獲勝,因為她是最優秀的。 To do her justice, we must admit that she did deserve to win. 說句公道話,我們得承認她應該獲勝。 These people deserve to make more than the minimum wage. 這些人應該得到比最低工資更高的報酬。 但是,如果當它后面所接動詞具有被動意義時,也可用動名詞,且這個動名詞要用主動形式表示被動意義;此時若將動名詞改成不定式,則要用不定式的被動形式。如: He deserved sending [to be sent] to prison. 他應當被送進監牢。 These young louts deserve horsewhipping / to be horsewhipped. 這些粗野的小子應該用馬鞭狠狠抽一頓。 Drivers who park their cars illegally, particularly obstructing traffic flow, deserve punishing / to be punished. 非法停車的司機,尤其是那些阻斷交通的,應當予以懲處。 I don’t think his article deserves reading / to be read. 我認為他的文章不值一讀。 注:在通常情況下,deserve后的動名詞形式應用主動形式表示被動意義,但是偶爾也可見到用直接被動形式的例子。如: He deserved being recommended for a decoration. 他有資格得到提名受勛。 |
