職務和頭銜名詞前冠詞的使用問題

在通常情況下，當表示職務及頭銜的名詞用作表語、補足語及同位語時，表示職務及頭銜的名詞前一般不冠詞。如：

She was captain of the Olympic swimming team. 她是長山奧林匹克游泳隊隊長。

When he failed to turn up for training, he was relieved of his duties as captain. 他沒有出席訓練，被免除了隊長職務。

He is chairman of the Parent Teacher Association. 他是家長教師會的主席。

He played down his chances of becoming chairman. 他對自己擔當主席的可能性輕描淡寫。

She replaced Jane Stott as Managing Director. 她接替簡·斯托特做了總裁。

He will be giving his farewell concert as Music Director of the Ulster Orchestra. 作為烏爾斯特交響樂團的音樂總監，他將在離任前舉行一場告別音樂會。

She has an excellent position as head of a school. 她有極好的職位，是一所學校的校長。

He is leader in name only: his deputy has effectively taken over. 他不過是個應名兒領導，他的副手實際上已取而代之。
