right與rightly的用法區別與辨析

right與rightly 均可用作副詞，表示“正確(地)”，常可互換，只是在非正式英語中多用 right。如：

They did quite right [rightly]. 他們做得很對。

The boy answered right [rightly]. 這孩子回答對了。

注：這樣用的 right 通常只用于動詞后，若用于動詞前則要用rightly。如：

Everyone rightly feared the coming war. 人人都擔心戰爭即將爆發，這是理所當然的。

The new law rightly emphasizes parental responsibility. 新法律合理地強調了父母的責任。

She rightly points to the inadequacy of the argument.  她準確地指出這個論點的不足之處。

Doctors have rightly stressed the importance of exercise. 醫生適當地強調了鍛煉的重要性。

People rightly insist on being treated as individuals.  眾人堅持要獲得獨立個體的對待是正當的。

另外，用于句首也得用 rightly。如：

Rightly, he went with them. 他同他們一起去是對的。

另外，rightly 還可用于修飾形容詞或副詞。如：

Citizens in inner-city areas are desperately worried and rightly so. 舊城區的市民極為擔心，這不是沒有理由的。

British voters are rightly suspicious of attempts to save money in the area of education. 英國選民懷疑當局企圖削減教育經費是有根據的。
