一、通常用法

Do [Would] you mind…? 最通常的用法是表示請求允許或征求對方意見(后接動名詞或 if從句，其中 Do也可換成 Would，語氣更委婉)，意為“勞駕”“你可否……?”“請你做……好嗎?”如：

Do you mind if I switch the radio off? 我可以關掉收音機嗎?

I think I’ll go along to the club this evening for a game of snooker. Do you mind? 今晚我想去俱樂部打落袋臺球，你看可以嗎?

二、搭配用法

該句型的搭配應注意以下幾點：

1. 其后可接if 從句，但不接whether從句。

2. 其后可接動名詞，但不接不定式。如：

Would you mind helping me? 請幫幫我的忙好嗎?

Do you mind my closing the window? 我關上窗戶行嗎?

3. 可說Do you mind… 或 Would you mind…，但不說 Will you mind…。

4. Would you mind…后接if 從句時，從句謂語通常要用過去式。如：

Would you mind if I closed the window? 我把窗戶關上你介意嗎?

三、答語的用法

一般說來，同意用Yes, 不同意用No，這是許多同學牢記的一條重要規(guī)律。但是，對Do [Would] you mind... 來說，情況則完全相反。因為對Do [Would] you mind... 的回答，從本質上說是對 mind 的回答，也就是說，若同意對方的請求，應用 not mind(不介意)，若不同意對方的請求，則用mind(介意)。通常的回答方式有：

1. 表示同意(即不介意)的答語：

No, that’s all right. 不介意，沒關系。

No, go ahead, please. 不介意，請……吧。

Certainly not. 當然不介意。

Of course not. 當然不介意。

No, not at all. 一點也不介意。

No, I don’t mind at all. 一點也不介意。

2. 表示不同意(即介意)的答語：

Yes, I do mind. 是的，我介意。

Please don’t. 請別……

Better not, please. 請最好不要……

I’d rather you didn’t. 我寧愿你不要……

請體會以下對話中的答語：

A: Do you mind shutting the door? 請你關上門好嗎?

B: Certainly not. 好的。

A: Would you mind taking part? 請你參加你介意嗎?

B: No, I’d love to. 不介意，我很愿意參加。

A: Would you mind if I smoked [my smoking]? 我抽煙你介意嗎?

四、特殊用法

Do you mind…? 除上述用法外，還有一種特殊用法就是可以表示氣憤或反感，意為“請別這樣做”“別來這一套”“你怎么搞的”“我可真火了”。如：

Do you mind? I don’t want to hear that kind of language here. 別講了，我不許在這兒講這種話。

Do you mind? That’s my foot you’re standing on. 怎么搞的? 你踩我的腳了。

A: Come on, my dear, let me have your kiss. 來吧，親愛的，吻我一下。

B: Do you mind! I hate you. 別來這一套，我討厭你。
