一、測試你是否會想當然

根據所給中文提示以及相應的英文句子結構，選擇最恰當的介詞填空：

1. 我在查看我的文件時，意外地發現了她的信。

【測試結果】如果你的答案都是選D，那你就出錯了，或者說，你又在想當然了。正確的答案是：前面兩題選D，最后一題選C。即：

by accident 無意地，偶然地

by chance 無意地，偶然地

by design 有意地，故意地

on purpose 有意地，故意地

注意，盡管表示“無意”的by accident和by chance都是用介詞by，但表示“有意”的by design和on purpose卻要分別用by和on。

1. by accident 無意地，偶然地，不小心地

He set off the alarm by accident. 他不小心弄響了警報器。

2. by chance 無意地，偶然地

Our meeting at the station was quite by chance. 我們在車站會面純屬偶然。

3. by design 有意地，故意地

I’m sure he ignored you by accident and not by design. 我敢肯定他沒理你是無意的，而不是有意的。

She stepped on my foot on purpose, not by accident. 她踩了我的腳，是故意的，不是不小心。

It is impossible that he forget our meeting; he must have stayed away on purpose. 他不可能忘記我們的會議，他準是故意不來。
