考點一  try doing sth與try to do sth

try to do sth表示設法或盡力去做某事；try doing sth表示試著做某事看是否會有什么結果或效果。如：

I’ll try to be more careful next time. 下次我要更小心一些。

Try holding your breath to stop sneezing. 試著屏住呼吸以止住打噴嚏。

考題實例：

—I didn’t hear you come in just now.

— That’s good. We tried ____any noise, for you were sleeping.(廣東中考題)

A. not make            B. not to make      C. to make          D. making

分析：選B。根據后面說的“你在睡覺”可知，前面是說“盡量不要出聲”，故用try not to do sth。

考點二  ask (tell…) sb to do sth

用于這類句式最常用的動詞是ask和tell，ask (tell) sb to do sth的意思是“叫（告訴）某人做某事”。除ask, tell之外，以下動詞也很重要：persuade, wish, invite等。如：

He asked us to wait for him at the gate. 他叫我們在門口等他。

The teacher told the students to keep quiet. 老師叫學生安靜。

They invited her to go for a walk. 他們請她一起去散步。

He persuaded his wife to change her mind. 他說服他妻子改變了主意。

考點四  used to do sth與be used to doing sth

used to do sth指過去經常做某事；be used to doing sth指習慣于做某事。如：

He often used to work late in the evening. 他過去經常工作到深夜。
