定冠詞可用于逢整十數詞的復數名詞前，表示世紀中的年代或人的約略年歲，注意使用這類表達時不要漏掉必須的定冠詞。如：

陷阱7  誤解“the+形容詞”的用法

注意：這類結構用于指人且作主語時，謂語動詞通常要用復數。如：
