考點10  考查固定搭配中名詞的用法

英語有很多的固定搭配，其中所涉及的名詞不可隨便改用其他名詞，那是意思相同的名詞也不行。如：

英語習慣上說as busy as a bee（很忙），其中的名詞bee不能換成horse, cow, dog, bird, fish, animal等。

英語習慣上說make faces（做鬼臉），其中的名詞faces不能換成hands, arms, feet, heads, back等。

英語習慣上說mind one’s own business（不干涉別人的事），其中的名詞business不能換成thing, duty, way, action等。

英語習慣上說have no choice but to do sth（不得不做某事），其中的名詞choice不能換成chance, decision, reason等。

英語習慣上說make it a rule to do sth（使做某事成為習慣），其中的名詞rule不能換成plan, wish, secret等。

英語習慣上說take care of（照顧，照料），其中的名詞care不能換成place, part, seat, idea等。

【考例1】—Why do you get up so early in the morning, Tracy?

—I generally make it a ________ to be up by 7 to read English.

A. plan                  B. wish                  C. secret                D. rule

【分析】答案為D。make it a rule to do sth為英語慣用句型，意為“使做某事成為習慣”，又如：He makes it a rule to get up at six. 他通常在六點起床。She makes it a rule never to borrow money. 她無論如何也不向別人借錢。

【考例2】—Emma, who are you taking ________ of at home?

—My grandma, she got hurt in an accident. (2009湖北孝感市

A. place                B. part                    C. seat                   D. care

【分析】D。答語中的my grandma為省略句，完整形式為I’m taking care of my grandma at home，短語take care of意為“照顧”，其余幾項沒有這樣的意思。

考點11  考查在特定語境對合適名詞的選用

中考英語有不少名詞考題涉及語境的理解，即要求考生根據題干語境進行分析，然后選擇合適的答案。這類題原則上說，不是要求選出“正確”答案，而是要求選出“最佳”答案。

【考例】Mike and his friend are going to the ________ to see the new action movie tonight. (http://ask.yygrammar.com/)

 A. book shop     B. restaurant         C. concert             D. cinema

【分析】D。要想做好此題，考生應分析全句語境。根據句中的see the new action movie（觀看新動作片）可知，他們是去“電影院”(cinema)，而不應是去“書店”(book shop)，也不應是去“餐館”（restaurant），更不應是去“音樂會”(concert)。
