連系動詞的省略

■在口語中，有時可省略句中的連系動詞。如：

How you doing? 近況如何?

說明：you 前省去了are，特別是在美國英語中。

Your sister dead? 你的妹妹死了?

說明：句首省去連系動詞is。

Everybody gone? 人都走了嗎?

說明：句首省去連系動詞is。

Everything in good condition. 樣樣東西都完好無損。

說明：everything之后省去連系動詞is。

■在比較結(jié)構(gòu)中，than和as后的主語+系動詞，通常可省略系動詞。如：

Sally is as intelligent as Bill. 莎莉和比爾一樣聰明。

■承前省略連系動詞。如：

To know is one thing, and to teach quite another. 知道是一回事，教又是一回事。

■在報紙標題中也通常省去連系動詞。如：

■whatever與however引導的讓步狀語從句可省去連系動詞，如：

In our company, every body is well taken care of, no matter what his position (is). 在我們公司，每個人都得到很好的照顧，不管他地位如何。

說明：his position后省去了is。
