stop后接不定式與接動名詞

■stop to do sth 的意思是： 停下正在做的事去做另一事。此時的stop為不及物動詞，其后接的不定式不是賓語，而是狀語，表示目的，即為目的狀語。如：

I stopped to ask the way. 我停下來問路。

At the top we stopped to look at the view. 到了頂上，我們停了下來眺望景色。

The bus stopped to put down some passengers. 公共汽車停下來讓一些旅客下車。

They were tired, so they stopped to have a rest. 他們很累了，所以停下來休息一會兒。

On the way to the station I stopped to buy a paper. 在去火車站的路上，我停下來買了一張報紙。

■stop doing sth 的意思是：停止做某事。此時的stop為及物動詞，其中的動名詞為賓語，是 stop 的對象。如：

It has stopped raining. 雨已經停了。
