23. password

password 的意思是“口令”“密碼”。如：

The password may be up to 12 characters long. 密碼可以長至12個字符。

PC users should log on to the network by entering their user name and password. 個人計算機用戶應輸入用戶名和密碼進入計算機網絡。

24. printer

printer 的意思是“打印機”。如：

You’ve connected the printer cake wrongly. 你把打印機的電纜接錯了。

He prints a letter on his computer’s printer. 他在電腦的打印機上打印了一封信。

注意printer與typewriter不同，后者的意思是“打字機”。

25. program

program 本指“節目”“計劃”“節目單”等，在計算機語言中指“程序”。如：

She showed them her new computer programs. 她向他們展示了自己的新電腦程序。

Close down all programs that are running before you install the software. 安裝這個軟件之前，先關閉所有運行中的程序。

We designed a pilot program to see if the new computer system would work. 我們設計了一個測試性的程序來看看新的計算機系統是否運行。

另外，這個詞還可用作動詞，表示“編程”“為……編制程序”。如：

She programmed the computer to answer the phone. 她給計算機編好程序，使之能接電話。

26. reboot

reboot 為計算機專用語，意思是“重新啟動”“再引導”。如：

You’ll have to switch off and reboot. 必須關機，重新啟動。

Please reboot and run setup again. 請重新啟動并重新安裝。

You must reboot your computer in order for the installer to continue this installation. 需重新啟動計算機以便安裝程序繼續本次安裝。

27. save

save 本指“挽救”“節省”等，在計算機語言中指“保存”。如：

Click “save” and close the document. 點擊“保存”，然后關閉文件。

Save you files onto your hard disk and back them up onto floppies. 將文件存入了硬盤，然后備份到軟盤。

28. software

software 的意思是“軟件”，與“硬件”相對。如：

29. system 系統

system 本指一般意義的“系統”“體系”“制度”等，在計算機語言中指“計算機系統”。如：

The big advantage of this system is that it is fast. 該系統的最大優勢就是速度快。

The system keeps crashing—I’ve lost all my files. 系統不斷出故障，我所有的文件都丟失了。

I’d like see the new computer system in action. 我想看看這個新的計算機系統的運行情況。
